UNITED NATIONS Joe Panik Jersey , Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- The UN high commissioner for human rights, Navi Pillay, on Friday said that more than 191, 000 people have been killed in Syria between March 2011, when the Syrian crisis began, and the end of April this year, saying that the ongoing fighting there "has dropped off the international radar."

"Ms. Pillay said that the number released by her office is more than double the number documented a year ago," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a daily news briefing here. "But, she said, tragically, the new figure is probably underestimates the real total number of people killed."

"Ms. Pillay said she deeply regrets that, due to the onset of so many other armed conflicts, the fighting in Syria and its impact on millions of civilians has dropped off the international radar," Dujarric said.

She said it was "scandalous" that the predicament of so many people is no longer attracting attention, and allowed to continue with no end in sight, affecting neighbouring Iraq and Lebanon.

"The killers, destroyers and torturers in Syria have been empowered and emboldened by the international paralysis," she said.

The figure was obtained by cross-checking a combined list of 318,910 reported killings, fully identified by the name of the victim, as well as the date and location of the death. According to Pillay's office, any reported killing that did not include at least these three elements was excluded.

The list was compiled using datasets from five different sources, three of which have reported killings throughout the whole three-year period, and two of which -- including the government of Syria -- cover only part of the period.

Records of reported killings were compared in order to identify duplicates, resulting in the final figure of 191,369 unique records of conflict-related deaths as of 30 April 2014.

Nearly 52,000 other reporter killings did not contain sufficient information to be counted, according to the study. The authors added that there is a "strong likelihood" that a significant number of killings may not have been reported at all.

The majority of the victims documented were men, with around 9. 3 percent women. In addition, the list includes 8,803 minors, including 2,165 children under the age of 10.

Chen Shifeng, the alleged killer of Jiang Ge, claimed he did not plan to kill the postgraduate student, reported ifeng on Monday.

On the first day of the trial, Chen said Liu Xin, the roommate of Jiang Ge, passed the fruit knife to Jiang Ge from the inside of the house and then closed the door right away. Jiang Ge rang the bell with the elbow several times but Liu Xin didn't open the door.

According to Chen, Jiang died from loss of blood. He said that Jiang fell down when he first stabbed her, but he defended his action saying "I didn't have any motive to kill her when I first stabbed her."

He also said "the next nine stabs had no causal relationship with the first stab".

Chen remained calm during the trial.

According to reports, the mother of the victim did not attend the court hearing.

The trial of the alleged murderer of Chinese student Jiang Ge began at 10 am on Monday in Tokyo. It will last seven days and the verdict is expected on Dec 20.

Jiang Ge, a 24-year-old postgraduate student, was killed outside her apartment in Tokyo over a year ago after she was reportedly attacked by Chen Shifeng while trying to defend his former girlfriend Liu Xin from him.

The mother of the victim Jiang Qiulian has been in Japan for 30 days, with the purpose of petitioning for a death sentence for the accused. The elder woman has accused Liu of being indifferent to the sacrifice of Jiang, sparking a heated online debate.

For several small- and medium-sized MEP (M&E) firms, incorporating a 3D BIM-based workflow that works parallel to their conventional CAD-based processes is an extremely painstaking procedure that requires meticulous planning. As facility developers, MEP (M&E) contractors, and consultants demand 3D parametric modelling-based deliverables, transitioning to BIM processes is no longer an alternative for several building services firms who employ only 2D approaches. For instance, engineering services design firms who have been traditionally employing AutoCAD are largely starting to adopt BIM processes based on Revit MEP to deliver coordinated models and drawings. As a result, this necessitates such organisations to undergo comprehensive BIM orientation and project-oriented Revit MEP training courses.

An ideal, integrated approach to train firms on the parametric model-based design and documentation processes should include the following stages:

1. Identifying Current Technical Workflows and Business Processes
This is a preliminary stage wherein the BIM experts or training providers should meet with firm’s key senior personnel, including project managers, project team leads, senior HVAC engineers, building services designers, piping designers, and electrical engineers, to understand how their roles fit into the company’s workflow and project delivery methodologies.

2. Recognise Crucial Pain Points That May Hinder BIM Implementation
Once the firm’s senior executives are interviewed, it is important to evaluate important areas which may hamper the BIM implementation process. These include staff resistance, integrating new workflows and tools with traditional processes, solving interdisciplinary communication issues, upgrading hardware infrastructure, and initiating process software application training for employees.

3. Initiate BIM Process Training
As opposed to the traditional 2D CAD workflow, the 3D model-based design, documentation, .
